If you are new to Glutathione Supplements, it can be a confusing and a little overwhelming! Which is the best supplement to use? Here is the low down on understanding your glutathione supplements.

There are 3 types i.e., Liposomal, Reduced Glutathione and S – Acetyl Glutathione. All 3 are great and work well when used as directed.

Your glutathione supplement choice will depend on your budget, ease of use, preference, and goals.

Reduced Glutathione supplements

This is the most common type so I thought it best to kick off the discussion with reduced glutathione. Used in suppositories, IV’s, Liposomal production, Capsules, Skincare formulations, Sublingual, Nasal and many more.

It is super cost effective and easily accessible, hence its popularity.

There is one downside with oral supplements. It gets depleted by stomach acids in the digestive tract once ingested through the mouth. This means a lower absorption rate. Therefore suppositories (95%) and liposomal (protected by liposomes so the stomach acids cannot penetrate the protein layer) are most popular.

Liposomal Glutathione supplements

Liposomal Glutathione is formulated by encapsulating reduced glutathione in liposomes. The liposomes are phospholipid layers which protect the glutathione through its journey through the digestive tract.

The downside to this supplement is the short shelf life and sometimes foul taste.

S – Acetyl Glutathione

This is the best way to consume glutathione products orally. S – Acetyl Glutathione is simply glutathione with a Sulphur Acetyl that binds to the molecule. This protects it from degradation within the digestive tract and ensures maximum potency.

A little goes a long way! 1000mg of reduced glutathione is equal to approx. 100mg S – Acetyl Glutathione.

S – Acetyl Glutathione is more expensive and harder to find. An affordable option to consider is the Nano Patch 300

In conclusion

Glutathione is important as an antioxidant and for detoxification. It is made from 3 amino acids namely, cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine. There are key health benefits from using glutathione supplements. This includes strengthening the immune system, detoxifying the body, and reducing free radicals. Aside from the health benefits of Glutathione, it shows skin lightening as well as age – defying effects! This is because Glutathione reduces the melanin in your skin and has shown to even out skin tone. Resulting in a brighter complexion.
